PCM upsets Class 2A No. 15 Blue Jays

COLFAX — Dominick McCarville scored in overtime to send PCM’s boys’ soccer team to a 3-2 win over Class 2A No. 15 Bondurant-Farrar on April 26 at Colfax-Mingo High School.

The Mustangs rallied from an early 1-0 hole to better last season’s win total.

McCarville’s overtime goal was his team-leading third of the year.

The Mustangs (6-2) tied the match at 1-all in the first half when Noah Hiryama became the ninth PCM player to score a goal this season. The goal came off an assist from Carson Clark.

Clark then made it 2-1 with his second goal of the year.

Bondurant-Farrar (6-4) managed to tie the contest at 2-all with 4 seconds to play before halftime. Neither team scored in the second half.

The Mustangs play in the Des Moines Christian tournament at 5 p.m. on Friday.

Chariton 2, PCM 1

CHARITON — PCM’s four-game winning streak is over after Chariton handed the Mustangs a 2-1 loss on April 22.

Chariton broke a scoreless match with a goal in the second half and eventually held off the Mustangs at home.

The two teams split a pair of one-goal games in a stretch of six days as PCM defeated Chariton (5-3) 1-0 last Tuesday.

Junior Tristan Doehne became the eighth Mustang to score a goal this season as he notched the Mustangs’ only goal in the second half.
