• Nyckolle J. Bisom, 23, of Newton, was charged with assault on persons in certain occupations at 3:18 p.m. Thursday. According to Newton police, an officer was sent to the 600 block of East 24th Street South for a female causing problems while moving out. The officer saw Bisom yelling at nearby females when he arrived. After the officer told her to leave, Bisom started yelling at the officer, swearing and claiming she’s using her first amendment right. Bisom then allegedly threw a box from her car at the officer. Bisom was arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• Ian J. Chesshire, 34, homeless, and Lisa E. Versendaal, 21, homeless, were both charged with third-degree theft at 8 p.m. March 22. According to Newton police, officers received a complaint regarding Chesshire. The victims had furniture items sitting outside on their porch while remodeling the inside of their house within the 2900 block of South Third Avenue East. Chesshire allegedly went on to their property without permission and took five items, including a $200 metal bench and a $500 cabinet. Chesshire and Versendaal were arrested but released.
