• Blaze R. Krough, 19, of Newton, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 12:24 a.m. Thursday. According to Newton police, officers were patrolling Union Cemetery and came across Krough inside a car parked after hours. Officers ran a background check and discovered Krough had a warrant from Tama County. When searched, Krough was found with a glass pipe used for smoking methamphetamine inside his pocket. Krough was arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• Renee M. Bragg, 47, of Newton, was charged with public intoxication at 12:27 p.m. Wednesday. According to Newton police, officers were sent to Skiff Medical Center’s north parking lot on a call of a female crawling on the ground. Officers found Bragg on the cement with her hospital pants pulled down to her knees. She had slurred speech and was struggling to balance herself. Bragg eventually admitted to taking pills not prescribed to her. Witnesses said she had taken marijuana and methamphetamine the day before. Bragg was released from the hospital, arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• A two-vehicle accident took place at 7:02 p.m. Nov. 8 at the intersection of East Eighth Street South and South Eighth Avenue East. According to Newton police, the driver, a Newton juvenile, driving a blue 2014 Dodge Avenger, was uninjured while the driver of a black 2006 Saturn Vue, Angela C. Dydell, 38, of Newton, had large amounts of blood on her face and knee pain. The accident appeared to have been caused when the juvenile, who told officers a tree was blocking his view of the cross traffic while stopped traveling southbound on East Eighth Street South, crept farther into the intersection without ever seeing Dydell’s vehicle traveling westbound. After further investigation, the juvenile received a citation for failure to obey a traffic control device, while Dydell received a citation for speeding.
