Lynnville-Sully girls win title at Keota meet

KEOTA — With the shuffling around by teams to find replacement cross country meets this week because of rained out events, Lynnville-Sully’s teams went to Keota’s meet on Thursday.

The Hawk girls claimed the team championship for their division. According to L-S head coach Darin Arkema’s social media postings, all five of the girls running for the Hawks placed in the top 20.

Those running for the Hawk girls Thursday were Caitlin Alberts, Megan Van Zante, Abby Gruver, Emily Van Gorp and Ashton Thompson.

Lynnville-Sully’s Mason Jansen also picked up a medal in the boys’ division.

Unfortunately, official results from the meet were not available by press time Friday morning. Arkema said in a text message to the Newton Daily News, Keota used scorecards instead of computerized results as runners finished.

He did not have all the information on his runners and their official placings and times. When it is available, the results will be in the Newton Daily News.

Lynnville-Sully was to have competed in the Prairie City-Monroe meet in Monroe on Thursday, which was postponed until Tuesday because of a wet course.

The Hawk runners will be competing at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Williamsburg.
