• Roger D. Windsor, 55, of Ames, was charged with third-degree burglary at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of West Fourth Street North. Officers were sent to the scene on a call of a possible burglary in progress. According to a police report, when officers arrived, they spoke to all parties involved in the area, and Windsor said he allegedly went into an apartment to take a cat he thought was abandoned. Windsor also took a $45 high chair from the apartment’s garage and a box he planned to use as a litter box. Officers learned the apartment door appeared to have been broken into, but it had been in that condition before the call was made. Windsor received a citation and will appear in court.
