I would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly agree with residents of our community who object to allowing fireworks within the city limits. There are always going to be those who push the envelope and believe it’s okay to set off fireworks whenever and wherever they choose.
Case in point: I sat on our porch and watched two “adult” men at a gas station lighting firecrackers and tossing them back and forth at each other while one was pumping gas. When people have the brain cells of a gnat as these two did, it’s time to ban fireworks in Newton for the sake of those who suffer from PTSD, our pets, and for the sake of saving those who can’t think for themselves.
