Library Overdue
Notices Moving to Email

As of Aug. 1, the Newton Public Library will be sending overdue notices by email only. In order to receive overdue notices, users will need to add an email address to their library account. To add an email address to your account, log-in to your account from the library catalog (http://newtongov.org/90/Library, then click on Catalog). Click on Send a Request at the top of the page, then choose Request to Add/Change Email Address from the drop down menu. Type in your email address and click Submit. Printed receipts with material due dates are also provided when you check out materials at the library.

eBooks by Appointment

2 to 4 p.m. Thursday — Need a little help navigating your new eReader? Drop in to the Library between 2 and 4 p.m. for one-on-one help with setting up your tablet or downloading library books to your mobile device. This program is first come, first served and spaces are limited.

Maytag Park Storywalk

9 a.m. Aug. 25 — Bring the family out for a walk around Maytag Park, and enjoy reading a story along the way. The pages of “Muncha, Muncha, Muncha!” by Candace Fleming will be posted along the path for you to read at your own pace. Meet at the Pool Pavilion to start your walk, then stop back afterwards for a snack. This event is hosted by the Newton Public Library and Newton Hy-Vee.

DIY @ the Library:
Painted Garden Stones

6 p.m. Aug. 30 — Paint your own decorative garden stones. Artist Lisa Frasier demonstrates tips and techniques for painting unique designs on stone. All materials provided, adults only please. This program is first come, first served and spaces are limited. Doors open at 5:45 p.m.

Yoga at the Library

6 p.m. Sept. 10 — Certified yoga instructor, Meghan Davis, leads an introductory yoga class for adults. No experience necessary. This class is sponsored by the Newton YMCA. This program is first come, first served, and spaces are limited. Doors open at 5:45 p.m.

Autumn Paint-Along Class

6 p.m. Sept. 26 — Artist Katie Craney leads a step-by-step painting class for adults. Attendees are encouraged to bring an apron, all other materials are provided. There is no fee for the class, but participants will need to pick up a ticket to attend. Tickets may be picked up at the library circulation desk Sept. 26, up to 30 minutes prior to the start of the program and will be given out on a first come, first serve basis. Participants must be present to claim a ticket. Ages 18 and older.
