Tigerhawk baseball loses to HLV in final SICL game

VICTOR — The Colfax-Mingo baseball team played with house money on July 2 against HLV.

The already-crowned South Iowa Cedar League champions played one final conference game against the Warriors, and HLV closed out the SICL slate with a 4-3 win.

The Tigerhawks led 1-0 after three innings, but HLV took the lead with single runs in the fourth and fifth and scored the winning runs in the sixth.

Colfax-Mingo rallied with a pair of runs in the seventh, but it wasn’t enough.

The Tigerhawks finished the conference season at 13-3, including a game they won but had to forfeit. HLV’s final conference record was 12-4.

Senior Alex Lewis suffered his first loss on the mound this season.

Lewis allowed three runs — two earned — on six hits with one walk and two strikeouts in five innings.

Sophomore Trystin Ross tossed the sixth inning, allowing no earned runs on one hit with one walk and one strikeout.

The Tigerhawks finished with nine hits.

Sophomore Brady Berkey had three hits and two runs, sophomore Trinity Schroeder finished with two hits and one run and senior Misha Seebeck collected two hits and one RBI.

Junior Zarek Hill had one hit and two RBIs and senior Jarod Nichols had one hit and walked once.

Colfax-Mingo had four doubles in the game, one each from Schroeder, Seebeck, Hill and Nichols.
