Mustang softball loses to Clarke in Class 3A regional tournament

OSCEOLA — The PCM softball team missed out on a couple of early scoring opportunities on July 3 during its Class 3A Region 4 quarterfinal game against Clarke.

Those missed opportunities came back to bite the Mustangs as the Lady Indians jumped on PCM early and rolled to an 11-1, five-inning win.

The Mustangs got an RBI single from senior Madison Foster in the fifth inning to get PCM on the board.

Junior Anna Shaver scored on the play. She reached base with a double.

PCM (2-15) stranded a pair of runners in each of the first two innings.

Senior Baylee Smith singled in the second, but Clarke starting pitcher, Alexis Watson, got out of the jam with three strikeouts.

Watson earned the complete-game win with eight strikeouts.

Junior Maya Hegwood started in the circle and took the loss for the Mustangs.

Senior Kenzie Johnson pitched the third and fourth inning in relief. Clarke had 13 hits in the game.
