Janesville sweeps Baxter

BAXTER — The Baxter baseball and softball teams both lost to Janesville on Monday night during Iowa Star Conference play.

On the baseball diamond, the Bolts were defeated 8-7, while the softball team was shut out during a 4-0 loss.

Senior Travis Lindemoen led the baseball team with three singles on offense and 10 strikeouts on the mound. Lindemoen took the no decision as Janesville’s winning run was scored off junior Derrick Klemme.

Klemme and sophomore Carter Nelsen both had two hits at the plate. The Bolts did not record an extra base hit.

Janesville improved to 7-6 overall and 6-4 in conference play after the win. Baxter fell to 2-13 overall and 2-8 in conference play.

Official statistics were not available at press time for the Baxter softball team. It was the Bolts third straight loss and they dropped to 9-9 overall and 7-4 in conference play.

Janesville improved to 15-8 overall and 8-3 in conference play.

Both Baxter squads play GMG at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Garwin.
