Hank, the son of Henry and Dorothy (Mills) Britton, was born on June 7, 1958 in Terre Haute, Ind. while his parents were in route from moving to Iowa from Tennessee. He grew up in Waterloo and later moved to Gladbrook where he would graduate from high school in 1976. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. On Dec. 11, 1976, Hank was united in marriage with Cindy Wrage in Lincoln. They made their home in San Diego, Calif., Scotland and Great Lakes, Ill. where Hank was stationed until 1985. Following Hank’s discharge they returned to Iowa and made their home in Newton. Hank received an associates degree in business administration and later a four year degree in human services from Upper Iowa University. He was a member of the Newton Masonic Lodge #59 and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a member of the York Rite and the Scottish Rite. In 2006, Hank was a proud member of the first class of G.I.V.E. (Golf for Injured Veterans Everywhere) hosted at the Blue Top Ridge Golf Course in Riverside. This experience renewed his passion for golf. Over the years he stayed active in the G.I.V.E. program and for the last 10 years hosted an annual golf tournament at Westwood Golf Course for Blind and Disabled Veterans.

Hank is survived by his wife, Cindy Britton of Newton; son, Ben (Delynn) Britton of Newton; granddaughters, Kameron, Brooklynn, and Elira; his mother, Dorothy Ulrey of Newton; and his two brothers. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Lewis Britton and step-father, Michael Urey.
