19-year-old Newton man charged with sexual abuse

A Newton man has been arrested on charges of sexual abuse. Dakota J. Floyd, 19, is charged with third-degree sexual abuse after the victim came forward at the Newton Police Department on March 26.

The victim said she was with Floyd in her vehicle when he forced himself on her sexually. She told officers that she told Floyd she did not want to have intercourse and that she did not give consent to the action.

Following the incident, the victim was taken to Skiff Medical Center where a sexual kit was completed. The victim also provided officers with text messages that she received from Floyd indicated the interaction and that the victim did not give consent.

Floyd admitted to officers that he forced sexual intercourse with the victim. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail where he is being held on $25,000 bond.
