‘Cool Car’ car show returns to Newton Fest

This year’s Newton Chamber “Cool Cars” Car Show will be held in coordination with Newton Fest. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 9 in the North parking lot of the Maytag Event Complex. As well as classic and unique cars on display, there will be a DJ playing classic tunes.

A panel of volunteer judges from the area will choose a Best in Show winner as well as a runner up and honorable mention. All entrants and spectators are invited to vote for their favorite car. The winner in this category will take home the trophy for “People’s Choice.”

Pre-registration is encouraged, and required, for entry in the Best of Show category. This gives the planning committee the opportunity to expand the show area, if needed, and create additional trophy placings, as warranted. There is no fee to enter the show or compete in the competitions. Those who would like to enter their cool car may pre-register by calling the Newton Chamber office at 641-792-5545. Leave a call-back number if after hours or stop in to the Chamber office at 113 First Ave. W. in Newton. Entries will also be accepted the day of the event.

“We are finalizing plans in preparation for a fun event this June,” Amanda Price, show coordinator and executive director of the Newton Chamber said. “Visitors to the show can expect to see an incredible array of classic, vintage and contemporary cars that they may have read about in a magazine but have never had the opportunity to see up close. We’ll be near the Mainstreet BBQ contest, carnival rides and music. The car show is one of many popular events held over the Newton Fest weekend and is always a good time.”
