Baxter golfers fall in road triangular

The Baxter golf teams faced BCLUW and North Tama in a triangular on April 12 and the Bolts came up short in both boys and girls competition.

Baxter’s boys shot a 244 at Oakwood Golf Course in Conrad.

That was good enough for third as BCLUW won with a 168 and North Tama finished second with a 192.

There wasn’t enough Baxter girls for a team score as No. 1 golfer Sadie Meyer was not in action due to an illness and Gracie Bethards was at a soccer match. The BCLUW girls won with a 196, and North Tama shot a 240 at South Hardin Recreation Area in Union.

The top Baxter male finisher was Austin Good, who shot a 50. Matthew Grimes carded a 59, Derrick Klemme shot a 64 and Christian Brandt carded a 71.

Seth Williams shot a 75 and Andrew Klemme carded a 77 for the two non-counting scores.

The medalist was BCLUW’s Lane Stanley, who shot a 3-over-par 38. BCLUW’s Brad Barkema was the runner-up with a 42.

The top Baxter female golfer was sophomore Abbey Shepley, who shot a 58. Junior Piper Larson carded a 62 and junior Mikayla McKnight had a 79.

BCLUW’s Lauren Anderson shot a 43 to win medalist honors, and teammate Madison Trinkle was the runner-up with a 49.
