House should pass ‘Heartbeat Bill’

The most basic of all American ideals is “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

I believe the government’s single most important job is to protect the rights of its people, and first and foremost is the right to life. The motto of Iowa states, “Our liberties we prize, our rights we will maintain.”

Please join me in encouraging our representative in the Iowa House to vote for the “Heartbeat Bill,” protecting the lives of babies whose heartbeats testify that they’re alive. Every representative should be “on the record” regarding this important legislation.

After all, that little girl in her mother’s womb has her own DNA, her own fingerprints, her own heartbeat. The psalmist wrote, “you knit me together in my mother’s womb ... I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” —Psalm 113:13-14

Let’s protect that precious life by passing the Heartbeat bill.
