Donnie Hummel’s dedication recognized by Izaak Walton League

Donnie Hummel was awarded the Judge John W. Tobin Chapter Volunteer Appreciation Award from the Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League at his home on March 20 in the presence of many Izaak Walton League members and family members. The Tobin Award is awarded once a year to a member for their devoted service to the Emerson Hough Chapter. The recipient of the award was chosen by fellow Newton Ikes who know and appreciate all that he had done.

Donnie had been active with the Izaak Walton League for more than 27 years. He was always seen at the Thursday night meals. He had helped regularly on the kitchen cleanup crew. Donnie also had helped with special meals, wild game feeds, sweet corn sales, as a volunteer bartender, highway clean up, and building and grounds cleanup. He had served on the Board of Directors for six years.

Donnie passed away a few days after the award was presented to him. He will always be remembered for all he had done. It’s people such as Donnie and his dedication that makes the Emerson Hough Chapter successful.
