Blues Under the Blue Roof

6:30 p.m. Monday — Join the South Skunk Blues Society at the Newton Public Library for live musical performances every Monday evening in February. The final performance will feature Jodi Bodley and Dewey Cantrell. It is free to attend. This concert series is made possible by the South Skunk Blues Society, Jasper County Arts Connection and the Newton Public Library Foundation. All ages welcome.

Battle of the Books

March 5-20 — Our wildly popular Battle of the Books returns. This March Madness style competition pits your favorite authors against each other to determine which writer will be crowed Newton’s favorite. Fill out a bracket with your winning predictions by March 4, then vote for your favorite authors each day. You may vote inside the library or via our Facebook page. The brackets with the most accurate predictions will be entered in a grand prize Kindle drawing. Voting begins March 5. Printable brackets and additional information can be found on the library’s website.

Adult Coloring

6 p.m. March 7 — Relax and unwind with a coloring book. All materials provided, adults only please.

Yoga at the Library

6 p.m. March 12 — Certified yoga instructor, Meghan Davis, leads an introductory class for adults. No previous experience necessary. Attendees may bring a yoga mat or towel, if they wish. This event is sponsored by the Newton YMCA. Spaces are limited and registration is required to attend. Please call the library at 641-792-4108 to reserve your spot.

Make Your Own Slime

6 p.m. March 13 — Children are invited to make their own slime in this fun crafting program. Kids ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult helper. The program will be held in the Library meeting room. Registration is required to attend. Please contact the library at 641-792-4108 to reserve your spot.

What Should You Know
About Gambling?

6 p.m. March 15 — Mandi Vellinga from Employee and Family Resources offers an inside look at gambling addiction. This informative program will discuss signs of addiction, treatment options, and the rising rate of gambling addiction among teens and young adults. This program is free and open to the public. All ages welcome.
