Once again

It’s nice to be with you once again. It’s been eight years since you heard from me, by readying my column, and I enjoyed that time so much when writing it. The last time was in 2010, and I can only say, “Oh my, how the time does fly by!”

However, not writing for the newspaper did not keep me from writing. I scribbled something on scraps of paper every time I had an idea in hopes they would evolve into a story, poem or something, whatever. Sometimes it did and sometimes it disappeared into my leaky memory.

No only does time fly, so does my memory, and just like time I don’t know where it flies to. If it went into outer space, there has to be a whole bunch of thoughts up there.

My niece from Denver emailed me a list of great truths about knowing when you’re getting older.

1. When you fall down you look around to see what else you could do while you’re down there.

2. You get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got on a roller coaster.

3. You give others good advice because you don’t need it anymore.

4. By the time you’re wise enough to watch your step, you’re too old to go anywhere.

5. Your knees buckle but your belt won’t.

6. Everything hurts and what doesn’t hurt — doesn’t work.

7. You look forward to a dull evening and you stop looking forward to your next birthday.

8. Your address book has only names ending with MD.

9. You know all the answers but no one asks the questions.

10. You don’t remember that your are absent minded.

Phew! That’s a scary list and I’m glad I’m not there yet. At least I don’t remember that I am.

Thought for the day — If there’s one consolation about growing older, it’s that I’m grateful that wrinkles don’t hurt.
