Lynnville-Sully’s girls pulled away from the EBF girls on a 21-12 first-quarter run. They led 33-22 at halftime on their way to a 60-38 victory.

“The guys fought hard defensively. Eddyville is a strong athletic team that made it difficult for us to score, but the guys found a way to get it done,” Lynnville-Sully boys’ head coach Nick Harthoorn said.

The Hawks had a 25-22 lead at halftime over the Rocket boys. Each team poured in 14 points in the third quarter then Lynnville-Sully had to fight off the Rockets down the stretch. The Rockets outscored the Hawks 17-16 in the final eight minutes.

“Our defense was pretty good most of the game EBF puts a lot of pressure on your defense because they spread the floor, which caused our help side maybe a step slow,” Hawk girls’ head coach Jerry Hulsing said. “When we attacked the rim our offense clicked and we were able to get some easy baskets.”

The Hawk girls connected on 22-of-53 field goal attempts for 41 percent. EBF shot 36 percent, 15-of-41, but was only 8-of-15 from the line. Lynnville-Sully had a 34-30 rebounding edge.
