Newton woman charged following stabbing

A 31-year-old woman is facing multiple charges following an alleged stabbing at a Newton residence Saturday morning.

Police were called to a home in the 1000 block of North Sixth Avenue East at 5:43 a.m. Saturday where a man at the residence had a wound on his back.

Witnesses told police that Kasey L. Frosch-Machuta, of Newton, stabbed the victim during an argument, according to a police report. Law enforcement said the injury was non-life threatening, and the victim denied medical attention.

Additionally, police learned about a separate incident earlier in the day when Frosch-Machuta allegedly held her 9-year-old child’s head underwater in the kitchen sink after becoming angry with him.

She is charged with domestic abuse assault with a dangerous weapon and child endangerment, both aggravated misdemeanors.

Frosch-Machuta was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
