I was very disappointed to hear that companies in Newton wouldn’t let their veterans have Friday off to observe the holiday that was created for them. It is past practice that even though the holiday falls on Saturday you get the Friday off and if it falls on a Sunday you would get Monday off. I’ve heard it’s not a “free day off.” I don’t quite understand that saying. These people would not get paid for their day off. Maybe it is because these business owners don’t get the day off because he or she didn’t serve your country. It really shows that some people don’t value our veterans. I don’t understand it and I’m very disappointed in these companies. I would like to tell all veterans thank you. We should thank all those who have served.
