Two bodies discovered; man charged with murder

MASON CITY — Authorities say a 25-year-old man has been charged with murder in the slayings of two people in northern Iowa.

Mason City police say the bodies were found during a welfare check at the home around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday. The victims’ names haven’t been released. Authorities soon sought Codie Matz as a material witness and found him in the Des Moines suburb of Bondurant. He was later charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
