The Newton Police Department has 2018 dog, cat and miniature pig licenses available for sale. Newton pet owners, in order to avoid a late fee of $20 your 2018 animal licenses must be purchased by March 29. Licenses are available from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Newton Police Department, 101 W. Fourth St. S. The license fee for altered animals is $15. The license fee for unaltered animals is $25. Pet owners can receive a civil penalty fine of up to $150 for not having their pet licensed.
Residents need to bring proof of current rabies vaccinations for their pets when purchasing their license. The Newton Police Department does not accept debit or credit cards. Cash or checks are only accepted at this time.
Bike licenses are also available for $2 and are good until the bike is no longer operable.
