In Grassley’s “Letter to The Editor” Oct. 7, he states “how he urged Trump to crack down on excessive travel before Tom Price resigned.” The great watchdog of taxpayers’ money declares: “Anybody who doesn’t get the message that taxpayers come first shouldn’t be in public service.”
The votes to confirm Tom Price as Health and Human Services Secretary in February 2017 took place amid allegations that Price bought and sold health care company stock while in elected office. Then misstated the timing of purchase and did not report these transactions.
Price introduced a bill to prevent changes in Medicare reimbursements for medical equipment. Then Sen. Price, while in the Senate, turns around and purchases $15,000 shares of a medical equipment company. Grassley had to be aware of Price’s conflict of interest. So our great watchdog voted to confirm Tom Price as Health and Human Services Secretary. I say any senator that voted to confirm Tom Price as Secretary of Health and Human Services shouldn’t be in public service, Senator Grassley you don’t let the fox in the hen house and then claim you are protecting the taxpayers.
