NPD to raise money during No-Shave November

If you see some scruffy-looking Newton Police Officers in November, it’s for a good cause.

Typically, police officers must be clean shaven with minor exceptions. However, from Nov. 1 through Nov. 30, the Newton Police Department will be participating in “No-Shave November” and officers will be growing their facial hair to bring awareness and support to cancer research and education.

Newton Police Officers will donate the money they would typically spend on shaving and grooming to educate others about cancer awareness and will be allowed to grow beards to show their support of cancer survivors.

The Newton Police Department family and community know all too well the effects of cancer, so each whisker grown allows them to embrace their hair, which many cancer patients lose during treatment. In support of cancer research and education, the Newton Police Department will have insulated tumblers available for purchase to community members. Insulated tumblers are $20 and can be purchased at the Newton Police Department from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Help spread the word and donate to a great cause.
