NHS freshmen lose to Bobcats

MARSHALLTOWN — Newton High’s freshmen made too many mistakes in Friday’s football game against host Marshalltown, losing 42-14.

The Cardinals trailed 35-0 before quarterback Cade Cupples scored on a 10-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Jordan Becker tacked on the 2-point conversion run for a 35-8 score.

Later in the fourth quarter, Cupples threw a long touchdown pass to Parker Aalbers.

Newton hosts Fort Dodge for a 4:45 p.m. game on Friday at H.A. Lynn Stadium.
