Floyd William “Pee Wee” McNew went to be with the Lord Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017.

Floyd was born to Floyd and Vada Harper Aug. 23, 1947, in Newton. He was later adopted by Charles Melvin and Betty Jean (Michmershuizen) McNew. On Sept. 29, 1967, Floyd was united in marriage with Linda Sue Green. He was later married to Beth Parsons.

Floyd worked for McNew Construction for several years then moved on to T.R.S. Roofing. He had also worked for a time at the Maytag Company and had various other jobs throughout his working career. Floyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, music, playing guitar and banjo, camping and inventing. He loved spending time with his family.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, John Coady and Don Coady; his sister, Loretta Faye Tinnermeier; and a grandson, Brenton Smith.

Those left to honor Floyd’s memory include his daughters, Pamela (Steven) Graves of Newton, Stacie (Randy) Smith of Newton and Shelly (Casey) Templeton of Newton; his son, David McNew of Newton; his eight grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Rick (Leslie) McNew and Don McNew.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7 at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home. Memorials may be designated in Floyd’s name and may be left at the funeral home.
