Historical museum cemetery walk event

Jasper County Historical Museum invites the public to join in this fall’s cemetery walk from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Newton Union Cemetery, 1601 W. Fourth St N.

Students from Newton High School’s Speech Department will be dressed up in period attire to tell you about the lives of six prominent men and women from Jasper County: three educators, a Maytag inventor, a sportsman-screenplay writer and a children’s book author.

Before the walk you can meet the new museum director and learn about the cemetery’s history. Tickets are $6 (kids 5 and under are free) and the proceeds are divided between the JCHS and the NHS Speech Department. Homemade refreshments available, free-will donation requested.
