New legal forms database established at the library

New Legal Forms Database

Library cardholders can now browse and download hundreds of free legal forms online. Log in to the library’s website from your home computer or visit the library in person to access the Gale Legal Forms database. For more information or help accessing the database, call Public Services Librarian Becca Klein at 641-792-4108.

Yoga at the Library

6 p.m. Monday — Certified yoga instructor, Meghan Davis, leads an introductory yoga class for adults. No previous experience necessary. Attendees may bring a yoga mat or towel, if they wish. This event is sponsored by the Newton YMCA. Call 641-792-4108 to register.

New App for Downloading eBooks

We’re introducing a new way to download library ebooks and audiobooks. This new app offers a simpler way to download and read digital materials. Android and Apple users may download the free “Libby by Overdrive” app in the iTunes or Google Play stores for quicker, easier downloading. To learn more or receive additional help with your device, call the library to make an appointment with Becca Klein, 641-792-4108.

Summer Blackout Party

11:30 to 2 p.m. Aug. 21 — Join us at Ashton Wildwood Park, 8755 W. 122 St. N. in Mingo, for an eclipse viewing party with Jasper County Conservation. We will meet at the Ashton Observatory first for a brief eclipse program, then view the eclipse outdoors. Picnics, snacks, lawn chairs and games are welcome. Solar viewing glasses will be provided.

Rock the Library:
Ducharme-Jones

6 p.m. Aug. 21 — Austin natives Ducharme-Jones wrap up our summer concert series. This event will take place outdoors on the library lawn, weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather or excessive heat, the program will be moved indoors to the library meeting room. Lawn chairs and picnics are encouraged. All ages welcome. This event is made possible by the Newton Public Library Foundation.

Following the Barn Quilt Trail

6 p.m. Aug. 22 — Join author, Suzi Parron, for a journey along the American Barn Quilt Trail. This presentation features over a hundred stunning photographs of intricate barn quilts and the stories behind them. Call 641-792-4108 to register. This event is made possible by the Friends of the Newton Public Library.

Adult Coloring

6 p.m. Sept. 13 — Relax and unwind with a coloring book. All materials provided, adults only please.
