Reasnor man arrested following alleged break-in, gunfire

A Reasnor man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly broke into his family’s home in rural Jasper County and fired a handgun inside a bedroom.

Henry T. VanRees, 48, is accused of breaking into a residence at 9:15 a.m. July 18 on Highway S74 South in Reasnor. VanRees allegedly kicked in a bedroom door and fired a handgun into the wall and ceiling, where there were two individuals, according to a police report.

VanRees then threatened the two victims, stating they “better leave or he would kill them,” according to the report.

No one was injured during the incident.

VanRees faces charges of first-degree burglary, going armed with intent, intimidation with a dangerous weapon and first-degree harassment.

VanRees was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail where he was released on $10,000 bond.
