Newton Police Department

Shawn C. Dobbs, 26, of Newton, was arrested at 12:25 a.m. June 26 in the Maid-Rite parking lot on a Jasper County warrant for failure to appear on a trespassing charge. Dobbs was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Sidney A. Noe, 46, of Newton, was charged with dominion, control of firearm offensive weapon at 12 a.m. May 26 after police received criminal history for a recent gun sale at the Newton Pawn shop. Noe sold a Winchester Model 1200, 20a shotgun at the pawn shop. Noe has as felony conviction of OWI, third offense from May 26. Noe was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Douglas L. Sample, 52, of Des Moines, was charged with operating while under the influence, first offense, at 11:58 a.m. when he was called in for reckless driving on First Avenue East and Third Street South. Sample smelled of alcohol and he told the officer he had been at Sidetracks bar in Kellogg. Sample had a hard time following instructions and wouldn’t listen, according to the officer. Sample failed sobriety tests and a breath test gave a result of over .08. Sample was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
