Outdoor education workshops scheduled

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is sponsoring workshops for K-12 educators on Iowa’s outdoors this summer.

A workshop is scheduled in Newton. It will be from 8 a.m to 4:30 p.m. July 25 and 26 at Thomas Jefferson Elementary.

Educators will learn how outdoor projects, exploration, and field investigations provide opportunities for project-based learning that addresses Iowa Core Science Standards.

Participants will be introduced to a variety of nationally developed resources that support authentic learning as well as Project WILD and Aquatic WILD. Trainers will work with educators to incorporate activities from these resources into inquiry based learning units.

You must register to attend the workshop. Find links to electronic registration forms and more information on the DNR website

Other workshops set for this summer are on June 12 and 13 at the Fossil and Prairie Center in Rockford; June 14 and 15 at the Marr Park Conservation Center in Ainsworth; and Aug. 1 and 2 at Arrowhead Park in Neola.
