The Branstad legacy as I see it

Anti-women legislation such as defunding Planned Parenthood that provides needed health services to women. He also opposes equal pay for women.

Privatized Medicaid that has caused some rural medical facilities too close making it more difficult for those in need to receive needed medical care and has required millions of tax dollars to pay the private companies. Branstad claims this is saving tax dollars. Figures don’t lie, but liars figure.

Legislation to restrict voter rights. Iowa has a zero problem with voter fraud.

He has given millions of tax dollars to corporations to create a handful of jobs while under funding public schools.

According to reports, he turned a $927 million surplus into a $130 million deficit.
Stacked the Iowa Utilities Board to get a favorable vote for a for-profit pipeline corporation and impose eminent domain.

Closed state mental hospitals creating serious problems for those at risk as-well-as problems for law enforcement.

Gun laws that only make Iowa less safe.

He has devoted his political life bashing Iowa workers. Branstad’s positions on workers’ rights has cost tax payers hundreds of thousands of dollars in court when he tried to force a state worker to resign, and when he refused to accept an arbitration decision. Branstad has reduced workers’ collective bargaining rights, changed workers’ compensation that hurts workers who are injured on the job, closed workforce development offices making it more difficult for laid-off Iowa workers to receive services and opposes increases in minimum wage.

He has reduced the number of nursing home inspectors making nursing home safety and sanitation questionable.

And don’t forget Branstad also brought us hog factories. Drive around Iowa and you can smell where they are.

This is only a short list of Branstad’s anti-women, anti-worker and just pain anti-Iowa positions. His negative impact on Iowa is too long to list.

With his record, he will fit right in with China.
