English Valleys sweeps Colfax-Mingo golf

NORTH ENGLISH — Sophomore Ahren Teed was the co-medalist and sophomore Delaney Underwood claimed the runner-up medalist, but the Colfax-Mingo golf teams lost to English Valleys on Tuesday in South Iowa Cedar League action.

The Tigerhawk girls lost by five shots, 213-218. On the boys’ side, English Valleys cruised to a 179-206 win.

Underwood led the Tigerhawk girls with a 47. English Valleys’ Lexie Miller was one shot better to earn medalist honors.

Sophomore Chelsea Russell shot a 53 for Colfax-Mingo, and the final counting scores came from senior Amy Russell and freshman Sydni Hostetter.

Both Amy Russell and Hostetter carded 59s. Freshman Brielle Reed had a non-counting 62.

On the boys’ side, Teed tied English Valleys’ Jeff Montgomery for medalist honors. Both golfers turned in a 42.

Sophomore Nic Duffy had a 52, and sophomore Skyler Aikin and junior Jake Dunsbergen both shot 56 to complete the counting scores.

Freshman Brady Berkey and junior Wyatt Smith had non-counting scores of 60 and 61, respectively.

Colfax-Mingo hosts SICL foe Iowa Valley at 4:15 p.m. at Colfax Country Club.
