• Jason E. Trotter, 43, of Newton, was charged with domestic abuse assault, second offense at 7:40 p.m. Feb. 16 when police responded to Skiff Medical Center in reference to domestic assault. The victim told police she was assaulted that night by Trotter. She told police Trotter came after her when she was in her vehicle. She said he grabbed her from behind and covered her mouth, pushed her against her car and began to drag her to the garage of a residence at 1313 S. Fifth Ave. E. Trotter turned himself in to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office at 7:39 a.m. March 4.

• Jonathan M. Cox, 36, of St. Charles, Miss., was charged with second-degree theft, providing false identification information and was cited with failure to provide financial liability at 2:03 a.m. April 6 when police were conducting patrol in the 100 block of Highway 14 North. Police saw a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am traveling southbound with a non-functioning third brake light. Police initiated a traffic stop and Cox provided a false name and social security number when asked for his information. The vehicle was then found to be stolen from Adair County. Police confronted Cox about the wrong identification information, and Cox then told police his real name. Cox was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
