Final Four is set at NCAA Tournament

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — With swagger and verve and downright prolific shooting, Oregon rolled to a 74-60 victory over the Jayhawks on Saturday night, earning the Ducks their first trip to the national semifinals in nearly 80 years.

Tyler Dorsey hit six 3-pointers and poured in 27 points, Dillon Brooks added 17 and Jordan Bell finished with 11 points, 13 rebounds and eight blocks in a virtuoso performance for the Ducks (33-5).

Now, they’ll face the North Carolina in the Final Four in Glendale, Arizona. It will be their first trip since 1939, when the Tall Firs won it all.

Player of the year candidate Frank Mason III had 21 points in his final game for the Jayhawks (31-5).

North Carolina 75,

Kentucky 73

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Luke Maye hit a jumper with 0.3 seconds left and top-seeded North Carolina held off Kentucky 75-73 to earn the Tar Heels’ second straight trip to the Final Four, winning a showdown of college basketball’s elite in the South Regional.

The national semifinal will be the 20th for North Carolina, where the Tar Heels (31-7) will play Oregon on Saturday in Glendale, Arizona.

Maye finished with a career-high 17 points off the bench for North Carolina. Justin Jackson scored 19 points.

Kentucky (32-6) will miss out on the Final Four for the second straight year.

South Carolina 77,

Florida 70

NEW YORK (AP) — Sindarius Thornwell scored 26 points and South Carolina earned its first trip to the Final Four with a 77-70 victory over Florida on Sunday.

The seventh-seeded Gamecocks (26-10) used their trademark swarming defense and some solid free throw shooting to beat their fellow Southeastern Conference Gators (27-9) in the East Regional final at Madison Square Garden.

South Carolina will face Gonzaga in the Final Four on Saturday at Glendale, Arizona.

Gonzaga 83, Xavier 59

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Few outside of Spokane believed the program Mark Few helped build from scratch belonged in the national powerhouse conversation.
Overrated no more, Gonzaga is finally headed to the Final Four.

The Zags (36-1) took the pressure of history head on with a performance worthy of their No. 1 seed, rolling to a dominating 83-59 win over Xavier in the West Region final on Saturday that should silence those critics.

Nigel Williams-Goss scored 23 points while orchestrating Gonzaga’s efficient offense.

Johnathan Williams added 19 points.
