Blues Under the Blue Roof at the Newton Public Library

Celebrate local blues music at the Newton Public Library.

A new musical performance will be held every Monday night during the month of February.

All performances begin at 6:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public. Aaron Earl Short of the Eastside Brothers and The High Crest will begin the concert series on Feb. 6. Short has performed at Des Moines’ nationally renowned 80/35 Music Festival, Iowa Public Radio Studio One, and Sunfest.

The Blues Under the Blue Roof concert series is made possible by the South Skunk Blues Society and the Newton Public Library Foundation. All ages welcome. The February performance schedule is as follows:

• 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6 — Aaron Earl Short

• 6:30 p.m. Feb. 13 — The Stutterin’ Jimmy Duo

• 6:30 p.m. Feb. 20 — George & Gil Davis

• 6:30 p.m. Feb. 27 — Tina & Brandon
