CHARITON — Lynnville-Sully’s wrestlers won a close one and lost a close dual on Tuesday and lost big in a third dual. All three duals were non-conference hosted by Chariton.
The Hawks defeated their hosts, 35-32, and lost to Martensdale-St. Marys, 39-36. Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont rolled to a 66-18 win over Lynnville-Sully.
Aaron Van Der Krol pinned Chariton’s Jordan Jackson in 29 seconds of their 220-pound match. The win put the Hawks up 29-26. Each team won a match after that by forfeit as Lynnville-Sully pulled out a three-point victory.
Lynnville-Sully had three forfeit wins to Chariton’s four forfeit victories. Bryson Barnett won by a fall at 170 pounds for the Hawks and Carson Dunsbergen had a 16-0 technical fall in the 145-pound bout.
Against EBF, Lynnville-Sully chalked up three wins — pins by Caden Dunsbergen at 138 pounds and Cayden Johnson at 152 and a forfeit win by Jacob DeHoedt at 106.
There were only three matches contested on the mat when Lynnville-Sully faced Martensdale-St. Marys. Caden Dunsbergen pinned MSM’s Dillon Fouts in 47 seconds at 138 pounds to open the dual. DeHoedt pinned Thomas Gyles in 59 seconds at 106, which put the Hawks up 36-24 with three matches remaining.
Martensdale-St. Marys won at 113 and 120 with forfeits to tie the dual at 36-36. It came down to Lynnville-Sully’s Ty Breeden against MSM’s Vincent Girardi at 126. The two battled to an 8-8 tie after two period. It was 10-10 when Girardi scored the winning points on a takedown to beat Breeden, 12-10, earning MSM three points and the team win.
Lynnville-Sully takes on Panorama and host Pleasantville at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
