Tigerhawk grapplers win two more duals at Saydel

DES MOINES — The Colfax-Mingo wrestling team added two more dual wins to its overall record Thursday night.

The Tigerhawks improved to 8-4 on the season after collecting a 41-33 win over Roland-Story and a 59-21 victory over South Hamilton. The only loss on the night came against the host Eagles, who defeated Colfax-Mingo 43-27.

Sophomore Cauy Fitch, freshman Cyden Fitch and junior Colton Lourens all went 3-0 on the night, while seniors Will Dunsbergen, Trent Jones and Ben Mead and freshman Zach Barnes were all 2-1.

The Eagles picked up five pins against their former Heart of Iowa Conference foe in the opener. Colfax-Mingo’s Cauy Fitch won his match against Saydel by fall at 113. Cyden Fitch (120), Jones (160) and Lourens (220) all picked up forfeit victories and freshman Tim Carroll won his match 10-4 at 132.

Cauy Fitch started the dual against former HOIC rival Roland-Story with a technical fall win at 120.

Freshman Trystin Ross (145), junior John Bowman (170), Lourens and Cyden Fitch (113) all won their matches by fall, while Mead (285) won by forfeit and Dunsbergen (152) and Barnes (106) each won their matches by decision.

Colfax-Mingo took four forfeits against former HOIC foe South Hamilton. Those wins were collected by senior Adam Teed (138), sophomore Kyla Lampman (126), Barnes and Cyden Fitch.

Cauy Fitch, Dunsbergen, Lourens, Jones and Nick Barnes all won their matches against South Hamilton by pin.

With three more wins each, Cauy Fitch and Lourens are now 11-1 on the season. Lourens’ two pins Thursday came in 22 and 35 seconds. Cyden Fitch improved to 7-1 this season, while Mead and Zach Barnes are each 9-3.

Teed went 1-2 on the day and is now 8-4 on the year.

The Tigerhawks take on South Iowa Cedar League rivals Belle Plaine and Montezuma at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Belle Plaine.
