Election Central goes live Monday

The Newton Daily News will launch its Election Central coverage at www.newtondailynews.com on Monday.

The newspaper has used this online platform to foster voter engagement for two years. The candidate Q&As will be published in the print editions in the coming weeks.

Political coverage includes the following races: U.S. Senate, U.S. Representative District 2, Iowa Senate District 14, Iowa House Districts 28 and 29 and Jasper County Supervisors.

U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley did not respond to our invitation to participate.

A submission from Dan Kelley, who is running as a third-party candidate for Iowa House District 29, was declined after the newspaper determined it was written in poor taste and is potentially libelous.
