Robert A. “Bob” Divis, 70, of Newton, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at his home. A private burial will be at the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery in Van Meter at a later date. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements.

Bob, the son of Laddie and Floretta (Wishard) Divis, was born Aug. 7, 1946, in Chicago, Ill. Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1963-1967. Bob was united in marriage with Alice Loper Jan. 5, 1968, in Chicago. They made their home in Chicago until 1989, when he moved to Newton. Following Alice’s death in 2001, Bob was united in marriage with Deborah "Red" Stauffer. Bob worked in risk management for the treasury department at the Maytag Company for 38 years, retiring in May of 2006. He was a member of ABATE.

Bob is survived by his wife, Deborah "Red" Stauffer of Newton; and two daughters, LaDonna Divis and Kimberly Divis, both of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Alice Divis.
