The South Iowa Cedar League all-conference softball teams were filled with area athletes. Colfax-Mingo, the SICL champion, had three first-team selections and Tigerhawk coach Bryan Poulter was voted SICL Coach of the Year.

Lynnville-Sully had two first-team selections in senior Kasiah Ehresman and junior Brenna Lanser.

Colfax-Mingo won 10 games in 2015 but bounced back in a big way in 2016, finishing 25-10 and winning the SICL with a 13-2 record.

That positive turnaround helped junior Amy Russell and sophomores Ries Wilson and Rhiannon Haley earn first-team honors.

Tigerhawk junior Alivia Haley was a second-team infielder, while freshman Delaney Underwood and Colbee Cunningham were both honorable mention choices.

Lynnville-Sully senior Kristen Van Der Wilt earned honorable mention all-conference honors, too.

Russell made her mark for Colfax-Mingo at the plate and in the circle. She earned first-team honors as a pitcher. Russell went 16-5 this past season with an earned run average of 2.13. At the plate, she hit .521 with six home runs, 17 doubles, 44 RBIs, 50 runs scored and 15 walks.

Wilson was one of the best center fielders in the state. At the plate, she batted .462, scored 47 runs, blasted 18 doubles and six home runs and drove in 33 runs. She committed two errors in the outfield.

Rhiannon Haley delivered at the plate and behind the plate for the Tigerhawks. Haley threw out 10 potential base stealers, which was tops in the SICL. At the plate, she batted .398, walked 12 times and had 38 RBIs.

For the Hawks, Ehresman hit .462, scored 52 runs, stole 67 bases and walked 16 times. Lanser hit .458, scored 30 runs, belted seven home runs and had 47 RBIs.

Van Der Wilt batted .274 and had 12 RBIs. She played behind the plate for the first time in her career for the Hawks, throwing out seven baserunners. She had a .964 fielding average with four errors.

Alivia Haley hit .410, scored 33 runs, finished with 30 RBIs while belting 11 doubles and two home runs.

Cunningham batted .280 at the plate and had an 8-3 season in the circle. Underwood had a .211 batting average.
