• Mark T. Faircloth, 47, is charged with three counts of assault, interference with official acts and carrying weapons after authorities were called at 9:15 p.m. July 21 to the 900 block of North Sixth Avenue East. Officers spoke with the victim who said Faircloth had assaulted three people. Officers located Faircloth Wednesday on his bicycle. Officers signaled for him to stop and he turned and rode away. After detaining Faircloth, officers found a pair of brass knuckles in his pocket. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Shannon K. Dantzler, 29, of Colfax, is charged with interference with official acts and providing false information after authorities were called at 2:28 a.m. Thursday to 205 S. Second Ave. E. Officers made contact with Dantzler believing her to be wanted. She said she did not have identification on her but that her name was Elizabeth. While running another woman’s information, Dantzler said her name was Stephanie Crosby of South Carolina. Officers could not locate anyone by that name. Officers saw a name written on her backpack which was an alias of Dantzler, Shannon Kristen Leedecke. When officers went to place her under arrest, she tried to run from them but was apprehended. Dantzler continued to struggle and officers eventually had to stun her to gain control. An officer received two cuts to his finger during the struggle. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• George W. Nelson, 45, of Newton, is charged with public intoxication, interference with official acts and fifth-degree theft after authorities were called at 5:26 p.m. Wednesday to 120 N. Third Ave. E. Officers were called to Fareway about a man attempting to stuff a bottle of whiskey in his sleeve and leave without paying. Officers attempted to stop Nelson, who began running out of the store. Officers caught him and found the bottle. He smelled strongly of alcohol and had bloodshot, watery eyes. He admitted to drinking half a bottle whiskey and had a BAC of .137. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• William D. MacDonald, 52, of Newton, is charged with operating while under the influence after authorities pulled him over at 10:31 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of North 11th Avenue East. Officers smelled alcohol and saw MacDonald had bloodshot, watery eyes. He admitted to drinking during the day and had a preliminary BAC of more than .08. He was cited and released to appear.

• Kyle E. Chance, 32, is charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness after authorities were called at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday to the 300 block of East Eighth Street South. Officers were called about a person attempting to take an air conditioner out of an abandoned apartment complex. Officers spoke with the victim, who said when he tried to take a photo of Chance taking the AC, Chance became upset and grabbed him. Chance admitted to lunging at him but not touching him. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
