Seniors lead PCM to win over Clarke

PRAIRIE CITY — After being recognized before the game, the seniors on the Prairie City-Monroe baseball team led the Mustangs to an 11-10 walk-off win over Clarke on Tuesday.

The Mustang seniors combined to go 9-of-15 at the plate, scored eight runs and collected seven RBIs in the victory.

Austin Brown ended the game with a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The game featured a combined 29 hits, and PCM won the game despite committing three errors.

Brown and freshman Brayton Van Dyke had three hits apiece for PCM. Brown had two RBIs, scored two runs and walked once, while Van Dyke had two RBIs.

Senior Clay Cooper finished with two hits, three runs, two steals and one walk, while senior Tyler Foster added two doubles, three runs, two RBIs and one walk.

Senior Gunnar Davis was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and one walk. Davis also started on the mound and tossed the first five innings. He allowed eight runs — five earned — on 11 hits.

Eighth-grader Derek Brown earned the win. He allowed two runs on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts in two innings.

PCM hosts Nevada at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Prairie City.
