Newton native crowned Jasper County Pony Express Sr. Queen

Emily Miller, daughter of Rick and Kim Miller of Newton, was crowned the 2016 Jasper County Pony Express Sr. Queen June 4 in Colfax.

Miller will represent the club at this year’s Senior Cowgirl Queen Contest, which will be held on Aug. 12 at the Iowa State Fair. Miller was judged on her horsemanship and showing ability, ease of answering questions from the judge and her cowgirl queen salute.

Miller has represented Pony Express for the past 4 years as a Jr. Queen, making the final cut the past two years and first attendant in last year’s Iowa State Fair contest, out of 80 girls vying for the title. Pony Express is a network of volunteers who assist individuals with disabilities.
