C-M baseball wins third straight, defeats Belle Plaine

BELLE PLAINE — Colfax-Mingo freshman Zarek Hill threw a shortened complete game Wednesday, and the Tigerhawks won their third straight game, defeating Belle Plaine, 5-2, in South Iowa Cedar League play.

The game was called in the bottom of the sixth inning due to lightning. The two teams sat through a two-hour delay. They resumed play for 20 minutes before calling it after more lightning.

Hill allowed five hits and one earned run in his five innings. He struck out six and improved to 2-0 on the season.

Junior Adam Teed had two hits, including a double, and scored two runs, while sophomore Misha Seebeck had two hits and an RBI.

The Tigerhawks have won six of their last seven games. They are now 7-3 on the season and 6-2 in SICL play. Belle Plaine dropped to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in SICL games.

Colfax-Mingo hosts Tri-County at 6 p.m. Friday. The Tigerhawks travel to the Highland tournament on Saturday.

Highland is coached by former Colfax-Mingo coach Seth Milledge, who is the brother of current Tigerhawk coach Greer Milledge.
