Kelley deserves our support

Our state representative, and our friend, Dan Kelley has been a strong voice for working families and Newton at the statehouse for six years.

Despite the negativity and smear campaign run against Dan, I appreciate his focus on the issues important to working families: making public schools our top priority again, providing more oversight of the Governor’s Medicaid privatization mess, and cleaning up our water.

Dan is right on the issues and has done a good job for us. Dan’s opponent claims to run a grassroots campaign and wants to unify the local Democratic Party.

Well, I have news for Mr. Breckenridge. The only thing dividing us is his primary challenge. And “grassroots campaigns” are about hours and hours of volunteer work and $5, $10, and $20 donations not billboards, full-page ads, and an empty downtown headquarters, all bought and paid for by high-dollar-lobbyists and friends with deep pockets.

Dan is proving hard-work, and true-grassroots campaigns work and are the way to go. He deserves our support in the Democratic primary on June 7. Let’s all get behind Dan, take back the Iowa House majority, and keep Donald Trump out of the White House. Together.
