Desperate times, desperate measures

The recent financial reports that were released tell a big story. Wes Breckenridge received more than 200 contributions, almost all of them coming from people from Jasper County. Dan Kelley’s report tells a different story. All but 15 of his contributions came from outside the district. Only 15 contributions came from within the boundaries of HD29.

Dan’s main supporter, Cindy Pollard wasn’t even listed as a contributor. That should tell you something. She isn’t so much for Dan as she is against everyone else. During this primary campaign, Pollard, Gene Bryant and others have been in charge of attacking anyone who supports Wes Breckenridge. If you speak out publicly for Wes, they label you a bully. If you endorse Wes you automatically become labeled as part of the “Democrat elite” and if you exercise your rights and work hard to gain support for Wes you are labeled as part of the mafia.

How childish is that? Dan Kelley is losing this race and they know it. Desperate times call for desperate measures. They have taken on Trump like tactics and they have failed. Jasper County citizens aren’t falling for it. Cindy Pollard and Gene Bryant have now started to attack the UAW and AFSCME. That isn’t a smart move in Jasper County politics. Both organizations have represented generations of working families in this county. Calling individuals like Max Tipton, Lonnie White, Jeanne Bridenstine, Dennis Black, Carol Kramer, Nancy Parrott and county elected Democrat officials elitists and conservative Democrats is shameful. These people have worked their entire lives for the Democratic Party.

The final straw for me was at the League of Women voters forum. Dan Kelley refused to follow the time limits. At the end of the program, he continued to talk past his allowed time. Poor old Margery Graves was forced to stand and demand he quit talking. That was very disrespectful to her and the League of Women voters, and Dan owes her an apology. Kelley, Pollard and Bryant aren’t just burning bridges, they plan to burn down the whole village before they leave. Wes Breckenridge has stayed on the high road. I respect him for that. I have already voted for Wes and hope you will do the same. It is time for a change in House District 29.
