Four things to know from the Jasper County Board of Health meeting

1. Dr. Stephanie Bantell was welcomed to her first official board meeting. Bantell, a physician at Newton Clinic, takes over for Dr. Zachary Alexander who served as the physician representative for three years.

2. A new sliding fee scale for Jasper County Home Care Aide was approved. The new scale will not increase payments for current patients and could reduce or eliminate payments for those at poverty level.

3. Jasper County Health Department is looking to pursue an internship program. Administrator Becky Pryor is in discussions with the University of Iowa to have two student interns who are interested in public health expand their education in Jasper County.

4. The department will also begin the search for a home care aide director. Following Lisa Dammon transitioning to the public health coordinator, Pryor found the responsibilities of the home care aide director fell to her. As the department continues to grow, she feels filling the position will beneficial for the county.
