MAT athletes make All Star team at Illinois trial meet

The MAT Tumbling/Trampoline Team traveled to Decatur, Ill. to compete at a USTA Super Invitational and National All Star Team Trial.

The All Star Team is a new addition for the USTA and its participants and will be made up of only the top competitors from around the nation. There was only one trial, one chance, to make this special All Star National Team.

Athletes competed against all ages in their respective level, making the competition that much tougher. At a typical competition, athletes are divided by both age and level to even the playing field. At this event, athletes went against everyone in that level. Some levels had more than 80 athletes and only the top place earned a spot on the All Star team.

The competition to make the team was fierce with more than 3,000 athletes competing for a chance to be an National All Star team member. It was a big challenge that the MAT athletes accepted and faced head-on without hesitation.

The MAT Team members who made the All Stare Team were: Chelsea Trotter, Advanced Girls Double Mini Trampoline: Joseph Rechtfertig, Beginner Boys Tumbling: Mia Gianetto, Beginner Girls Tumbling: Emma Bair, Intermediate Girls Tumbling: Kyah Siegert, Intermediate Girls Tumbling.

Each athlete that made the team will be receiving a special leotard and jersey and will perform in a demonstration at the National Championships to be held in June in Knoxville, Tenn. MAT represented well and had five athletes make the All Star Team; the most of any team that went to the competition.

The following scores reflect overall scores, not individual flight scores like most competitions.
